Who else loves Fruit Picking. I am, always ready to go any farms to get fresh fruits or veggies.
Mommy life is so busy that I could not even believe, summer is already ending. It feels like Ava just came into our life a month back and we have almost finished three seasons. Before the summer officially over, we decided to have our Saturday ride to a nearby farm and brought delicious peaches and veggies for rest of the week.
Ava is now 7 months old; she has started eating solid foods and fruits are of course the first stage. I try to give her all the fruits recommended by the pediatrician (one type a day) and so far, her favorite turns out to be apples, banana, and peaches. She has her sweet tooth, which demands sweet fruits; hence our decision to go fruit picking to get really fresh and delicious peaches for her.
Johnson’s corner farm in Medford, NJ is a beautiful farm near our place. They have many mini farms of various fruits and veggies. This season they had Peaches, Corn, Zucchinis, Squashes, and Beans. The ride had three pit stops of which firstly, they dropped us to pick Squash, zucchini, and beans. All of three veggies were in one farm separated by rows. I was hoping to pick some beans but it was time-consuming, so we turned our focus to zucchini and picked up few fresh zucchinis.
After veggies picking, they took us to peach farm, which was on our bucket list. I jumped out of the tractor and all of the three began picking peaches directly from trees. I have never picked the fruits from trees all my whole life(Although I am told, I did that in India when I was a kid but I have no memories of the same). Peaches trees were so beautifully planted aligned in rows and there were so many peaches on all the trees. I started picking like crazy. haha.
As usual, we went after 4 pm and the weather was pretty lovely. The baby girl was surprisingly happy in daddy’s baby carrier. After completing fruits picking and corn, we paid for the picked items and went on to have an ice cream. It was a delicious slushy mixture of crushed ice and cotton flavor and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is slightly overpriced for fruits and veggies although, no complaints on the fun part. Except, we missed to pick Sunflower – they had closed the farm temporarily during our visit.
Yeah, I got home quite a lot of peaches and zucchinis; as usual, some related recipes are in the making like peach pie, peach jam, and zucchini salads.
